Headwear for the bath: how to choose and why is it needed?

The headgear for the bath protects the head from heat stroke, which can occur due to the high temperature in the steam room. Therefore, everyone who likes to steam should know how to choose such a hat, as well as important points regarding its use and care.

Why do you need a headdress in the bath?

In addition to protecting your head, a shower cap also protects your hair from high temperatures. Overheating can damage the hair structure: it becomes stiff and unruly. At a very high temperature, the hair follicles can even be damaged, which will lead to hair loss.

Overheating is also harmful for the ears, because the thin cartilaginous tissue of the ears is very sensitive to temperature changes. The cap, thanks to its low thermal conductivity, protects the head, hair and ears from hot air, reducing the risk of overheating and its negative consequences. When you enter the steam room, be sure to wear a hat - this will help you stay healthy and get the most benefit and pleasure from the procedures.

How to choose a headdress for a bath?

For purchase, choose a bath cap made of natural materials - cotton, linen or wool. Felt and felt hats are especially popular. It is a non-woven material made of felted wool. Such materials have very low thermal conductivity, but allow air to pass through well. In a cap made of such materials, your head will be reliably protected from overheating.

Some manufacturers add synthetic fibers to cap materials to reduce their cost. However, you should not buy such caps, as synthetics can even increase the overheating of the head in the steam room, as well as cause an allergic reaction.

Choice of shape and size

On sale you can see hats in various forms. You can even buy an original gift cap in the form of a Viking helmet or a cowboy hat. Choose the one you consider the most functional, because the aesthetic qualities of the hat are of secondary importance. For example, for maximum protection of the ears, choose a hat that covers them completely.

Before buying a hat, measure the circumference of your head and choose an accessory of the appropriate size. It is important that the cap is slightly larger in size, because after wearing it, a small air gap should form between it and the head. Also, keep in mind that the cap may shrink a little after washing, so choose it with a small margin.

Bath headdress care

After visiting the bath, the hat must be dried. To do this, pull it over the mannequin's head (or a three-liter jar) and leave it in a dry and ventilated place. Drying on the base is necessary so that the cap does not decrease in size, especially for caps made of natural materials.

It is better to wash the hat by hand, in cool water with soap without a strong smell. After washing, let the water drain and then wrap the cap in a towel to absorb excess moisture. Next, dry the cap as described above.

If you often visit the bathhouse, it is better to have two or three caps so that you always have a spare in case your favorite cap gets torn or lost.
